America's newest all-season destination, Tamarack Resort in Idaho, is upping the adrenaline factor this winter with the addition of 5,000 acres of expert backcountry terrain.

Donnelly, ID (PRWEB) September 4, 2006 -- Tamarack Resort in Idaho is upping the adrenaline factor this winter with the addition of 5,000 acres of expert backcountry terrain. Under a special use permit from the US Forest Service, Tamarack will offer guided backcountry services on terrain to the north and south of the resort boundaries.

This backcountry terrain features some of the best chutes, cliffs and bowls in the region and Tamarack is thrilled to be able to offer access to our guests who desire a more extreme skiing and riding experience
"This backcountry terrain features some of the best chutes, cliffs and bowls in the region and Tamarack is thrilled to be able to offer access to our guests who desire a more extreme skiing and riding experience," says Jean-Pierre Boespflug, Tamarack CEO. "With our expert guides taking guests into this region this winter, our skiing terrain is now five times larger than last year."

The backcountry terrain is just one aspect of the new amenities on tap for winter 06/07. Crews spent the summer helicopter-logging and hand-clearing three major drainages on the mountain, resulting in more than 250 acres of new lift-accessed, gladed tree-skiing terrain and three new runs for a total of 38.

Tamarack will also be opening a 1,700-square-foot "Sled Shed" near the top of Tamarack Summit for snowmobile enthusiasts – both members of the public and resort guests. The shed will provide a place for snowmobile storage, along with the sale of fuel, food and drinks, and minor repair services for snowmobile riders. The shed also will serve as the departure point for Tamarack’s daily snowmobile tours from the summit to go explore West Mountain.

This winter, additional ski-in/ski-out luxury lodging is available through Tamarack Lodging Services, with more than 140 total units available for guests. New units include resort-built two-and-three-bedroom townhomes just to the north of the Tamarack Express high-speed quad, along with four-bedroom custom estate homes perfect for large family gatherings and leisure groups. ‘Stay and Ski Free’ lodging packages will be available throughout the winter season.

Big air and big names will be the highlight of Tamarack’s winter events when the U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix stops at the resort February 24-25. U.S. Olympic medalists Shaun White, Hannah Teter and Seth Wescott, along with world-class snowboarders and rising regional stars will go head-to-head at Tamarack on a mammoth 22-foot high halfpipe and on a specially-constructed snowboardcross course.
